What is a Chiropractic treatment?

A Chiropractic treatment involves the assessment of the body’s vertebral column and extremities for aberrant motion and misalignment either by specific chiropractic analysis, motion palpation, muscle testing or a combination of all.

A chiropractic adjustment is then utilized to restore normal alignment and joint motion.

The adjustment is safe, gentle and specifically tailored to the individuals needs. The result is decreased muscle tension, reduced stress and most importantly- better communication between the nervous system and body.

What causes the popping sound during an adjustment?

Some think the popping or crack-ing sound heard during a chiropractic adjustment are the bones of the body grinding or cracking on one another. Unfortunately, this is a common misconception and is not what is really happening.

All joints of the body are supported by cartilage. The cartilage is lubricated by synovial fluid to help joints move freely. When a joint becomes restricted, the Chiropractor restores proper alignment with an adjustment.

The sound heard is a cavitation that happens in the synovial fluid of the joint. It is a buildup of gas (carbon dioxide) that is released and occurs naturally in most joints.
